Carbon and varnishes accumulate on the exhaust valve guides, which limit heat transfer and increase friction of the valve movement. Reduce the risk of engine failure from stuck valves by periodically cleaning the valve guides. Do not use standard valve guide reamers to clean your guides; their pilot size is too small to stabilize the reamer in a working valve guide. They can also remove metal, and score and gouge the valve guide bore. Our McFarlane valve guide cleaning reamers are piloted to the valve stem size for a precision stable carbon removal cleaning without damaging the guide.
